Practicing art represents for me a space for negotiating my differences within a culture that thinks of difference as a suspicious place to inhabit. The mechanism of the gaze, cultural filters, the construction of reality, the sources of prejudice and their relationship with language are some of the multiple thoughts that cross my mind when I am at work. I approach my political and aesthetic concerns by exploring cultural objects and images inserted in the collective unconscious of the dominant culture as mediators between the social environment and me. The results of these material and cultural explorations are materialized in a series of works formed by an intersection of different media like those of photography, sculpture and installation.
